Wow, what a treat! We added this after many requests, and chose this particular one because the throw from our test candle filled the room in no time. Now, we know you're familiar with the name of this scent, so we'll sidestep the disgusting jokes and just give you the description. It's a blend of fresh bananas, kiwi, strawberries, pineapple, bubble gum and undertones of vanilla. Yes, a lush, yummy smell despite the name and you won't be disappointed!
CP Notes: No acceleration, discolored to brownish orange. Fragrance sticks and holds well without morphing or fading.

All About IFRA

IFRA guidelines - what does it mean?

Let's discuss IFRA (International Fragrance Association) and what that means for you...

From their website: The IFRA Standards form the basis for the globally accepted and recognized risk management system for the safe use of fragrance ingredients and are part of the IFRA Code of Practice. This is the self-regulating system of the industry, based on risk assessments carried out by an independent Expert Panel.

The Expert Panel is made up of renowned independent experts from the fields such as dermatology, toxicology, pathology and environmental sciences. Their role is to evaluate the data on a fragrance ingredient to see if it supports the current use level, to make sure that there is no risk for the consumer. In cases where the safety assessment does not support the current use, the Panel instructs IFRA to issue a Standard either restricting or banning a material.

We have IFRA on all fragrance oils and flavor oils on our website. Click on the product name and below the description you'll see a set of tabs. IFRA is one of those tabs. You can click on that to see the *max* levels allowed for specific applications.

What do the max levels mean? Let's use Almond Paradise as an example. The IFRA guidelines on this state that there are no restrictions for soaps, shampoos, lotions, etc. So does that mean you can use 100% in your product? No. That would mean your product consists of straight fragrance oil.

The IFRA states the *max* that can be used, not the recommended amount. It is the responsibility of the maker to do their research to see what the recommended usage rate of fragrance oil for their particular recipe is.

For soap, as a general rule of thumb you will use up to 5% of fragrance oil in Cold Process (CP) soap and up to 3% in Melt and Pour (M&P) soap.

So if you see a fragrance oil and the IFRA says 23% for soap, don't use 23%. IFRA is important when it comes to lower numbers. There are a few fragrance oils that have max usage rates that are less than the percentages shown above. In that case, you can only use the max shown for the oil.

This smelled wonderful but the second it touched my batter it riced like something I have never seen. It wasn't little bits - it was like a huge ball and it couldn't blend it out. I thought I might have done something weird with the batter - added too much or too little of something than usual - so I tried again a couple weeks later, and got the same result. Maybe it's my recipe or soaping temp (I soap at room temp) since I only saw one other person who experienced ricing. I'd be willing to try it again if someone requested it.

Advantages: GREAT scent!

Disadvantages: Weird ball-like ricing that would not stick blend out.

Bummer! Ive heard people raving about this scent for years so I finally decided to make monkey soaps for my grands for Valentine's Day and scent them with Monkey Farts. Brilliant idea!
I used a hybrid soap recipe ( where you allow the heat of the lye to melt the hard oils) which I have used many times before. When I got to light trace, I split my batch and put Monkey Farts in half and a different scent in the other half and put them into molds.
As i let them cure, I have beautifully scented and asthetically pleasing soaps for my daughters a pitifully brown splotchy monkeys for my grands, NOT!
Guess I will be showering with Monkey Farts for the rest of the year

Advantages: Great scent, but I certainly hope that the chemist can fix the color issue!

Disadvantages: MAJOR discoloration issue

I absolutely love the smell! Unfortunately, I make bath bombs and bubble bars. My bubble bars turned an ugly brown and the bombs are turning as well. I was really disappointed!

Advantages: Wonderful smell! Kids love it!

Disadvantages: Turns bubble bars and bombs ugly brown.

The CP notes said "no acceleration". This FO seized up my batch of CP soap IMMEDIATELY. Ruined an entire batch of source. I was soaping at room temp. Huge disappointment.

Advantages: smells good

Disadvantages: Discolors. Seizes up.
