INCI: Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Cocoa Butter, Octyl Methoxycinnamate, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Shea Butter, Apricot Kernel Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Vitamin E. (Octyl Methoxycinnamate and Ethylhexyl Salicylate are organic compounds used as ingredients in sunscreens and cosmetics.)
This natural wax soy lip balm base is rich in Vitamin E and formulated with luxury oils and exotic butters. It offers exceptional protection to your lips and contains no animal by-products so it’s vegan friendly! The soy lip balm base is creamy, long wearing and has a comfortable consistency. Melt it in the microwave or double boiler, add lip balm flavor oil, and pour into your cosmetic containers – it’s that easy! The Soy Lip Balm Base is best suited for small pots, small jars, and lip balm tins rather than lip balm tubes.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN LIP BALM: Our melt and pour base can be melted in a double boiler or microwave (in a Pyrex or microwave safe dish with no covering). Melt in 15-30 second increments, stirring thoroughly so the base is melted in an even manner. When the base is fully melted, use our lip balm Flavor Oils at their normal usage rate (start at .5%-1%). Utilize Pipettes to transfer the melted base into lip balm tins or lip balm tubes. It's best to wait until the balm has cooled a bit before pouring. Pouring too hot can cause warping of the lip balm tube. Transfer filled tubes and cosmetic containers to the refrigerator for fast cooling. Once the product has cooled, cap tubes, label, and you're finished!

Note: The Soy Lip Balm base is made with all natural ingredients including Shea butter and performs best in small pots, small jars and lip balm tins rather than lip balm tubes. Shea butter is naturally grainy but easily melts back into a liquid. To minimize grains, temper the base while stirring constantly and cool very quickly by utilizing the refrigerator. Quick cooling is the key to minimizing grains when using any base containing Shea butter. Also, because of Shea butter’s low melt-point, it can have a tendency to stick to the inside of the lip balm tubes. To help avoid stickiness, turn your lip balm tube 1 full turn and then back a ½ turn. This will initiate the propel/repel process. You can also add about 5% bee's wax (by weight) to help harden the formula and raise the melting point if you desire.
